Curtains vs Blinds in Islamabad: Which Should You Choose?

Someone walks in with a photo of the living room window and asks for curtains. Five minutes later they mention the kitchen. Then the kids room. By the time three windows are on the table, we are talking about both curtains and blinds. That is a normal afternoon at our F-10 Markaz studio.

We do not start with a product. We start with the glass. How wide is it. Does the sun hit after lunch. Is there an AC under the sill. Is the handle going to smash into a blind box. Once those things are clear, the choice gets smaller.

The living room window usually wants fabric

For a tall living room window we still put curtains more often than not. Fabric fills the wall. You get colour. You get a fold at the side so the glass does not look like a leftover hole. A single roller on a big pane can look a bit lost sitting there on its own.

Afternoon sun in Islamabad is not gentle, especially west facing rooms. A denser curtain cloth cuts glare on the sofa. For bedrooms a lot of people want the room dark in the morning. That job is usually blackout curtains, not a thin drape that still leaks light at 7am. We already wrote the short version here: blackout curtains vs regular curtains.

One mix up we see every week. Someone likes a sofa cloth and wants the same thing on the window. Sofa cloth hangs stiff. Curtain cloth has to fold. That is why curtain fabrics sit on their own rail in the shop.

Where blinds save you a headache

Window blinds win when the window is awkward. Sliding door. Kitchen sink. A small study where a drape would eat half the wall. You pull them up and the glass is free. You tilt them and the sun drops without putting the whole room in the dark.

They also stay cleaner in rooms where curtains would sit in the dust, or get in the way every time you open the door. If the wall space next to the window is tight, blinds are simply less of a fight.

Roller, zebra, roman, and the rest

Roller blinds are the simple ones. One panel, up and down. Offices like them. So do bedrooms that want a clean line and no stack of cloth. If you need darkness, we can do a blackout roller as well.

Zebra blinds have that stripe of sheer and solid. Light comes through. The street does not get a full view. We put a lot of these in apartments that face the road. Living rooms especially.

Roman blinds are for people who want cloth on the window but not a long curtain. They fold into soft layers and sit closer to the glass. Wooden blinds and mini blinds we use when the window is small, or the room wants a more classic look without bulk.

You do not have to pick one thing for the whole house

Living room curtains, kitchen blinds, bedroom blackout. We do that mix every week. Softness in the room you sit in. Easy control in the rooms you work in. Dark in the room you sleep in.

WhatsApp a photo if you can, with the handle and the AC in the shot. Stack for curtains and the box for blinds both need that space. Visit Shop No. 4, Peer Plaza, F-10 Markaz, or browse curtains and window blinds first so you have a starting point.
